How can we help?
Answers to the most common questions about Pacer. Can't find what you need? We're one email away.
What is Pacer, exactly?
Pacer is a native iOS & macOS app for calm protein and calorie tracking. Instead of a blank food diary, it comes with your plan ready — a daily protein target, a calorie target, and (if you use time-restricted eating) an eating window — and it shows where your intake sits against maintenance, so you can see how your day is going.
Is there an app for trainers?
Yes — Pacer Coach is the trainer companion. Coaches set each client's daily protein and calorie targets and assign a checklist plan, then monitor adherence and progress for everyone they connect with. Clients share their data by invitation and can disconnect anytime.
When does it launch? How much will it cost?
Pacer is in private development for iOS 26 and macOS 26. Planned pricing for Pacer is $4.99/month or $39.99/year (save ~33%), with a 7-day free trial; Pacer Coach starts at $12.99/month or $119.99/year. Prices are shown in US dollars and may vary by region. Join the waitlist and you'll be among the first invited before launch.
Do I need an Apple Watch?
No. An Apple Watch makes your calorie balance more accurate by feeding in active energy and workouts from Apple Health automatically, but Pacer's calorie balance works without one — it's anchored to your plan's maintenance calories.
Where is my data stored? Can you see it?
It depends which Pacer you use. On iPhone, iPad and Mac your log lives in your own private iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit and syncs across your devices — we can't read it, and there's no Pacer server holding those meals. If you use Pacer in your browser, that data is stored in your Pacer web account on our servers (Supabase), isolated to you, so it works across devices without iCloud. Either way we never sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
How does the calorie balance work?
Pacer compares what you've eaten against your plan's maintenance calories. A color-coded hero bar maps the result to five zones — from Under-eating through Healthy range and Maintenance to Over — and stays neutral grey until you log your first meal, so you can see where the day stands.
What is the dinner guidance?
After lunch you rate how full you feel from 1–5. If you're very full, Pacer steers you toward liquid protein (shakes, yogurt) to comfortably reach your target without bloating. If the target is already met, it tells you to coast; if you're short, it shows exactly how many grams remain.
Can I add my own foods?
Pacer's calculator lets you search bundled, USDA, and barcode foods or add your own custom foods, and converts any food's weight into the protein, carbs, and fat it actually carries before you log it.
