Privacy Policy

The short version: Pacer is built to keep your data yours. On Apple devices, your nutrition log and Apple Health data live in your own private iCloud account — not on our servers. If you use Pacer in your browser, your web account data is stored with our infrastructure provider instead — see section 6. If you choose to work with a trainer through Pacer Coach, you explicitly invite them and can revoke access anytime. We don't sell your data, and we don't embed third-party advertising or analytics trackers in the app.

Pacer is a two-app system: the Pacer member app, and Pacer Coach for trainers. This policy covers both.

1. Who we are

Pacer ("Pacer," "we," "us") is a nutrition and fitness tracking app for iOS and macOS, operated by Pacer Fitness. This policy explains what we collect through the app and this website, and how we handle it.

2. Health & nutrition data in the app

Pacer stores the data you create — logged meals, protein and calorie entries, appetite ratings, fasting activity, workout entries, weight and body measurements, and custom foods — using Apple's SwiftData with CloudKit's private database. This means:

  • Your data is saved in your own iCloud account and synced across your Apple devices.
  • We, the developers, cannot read the contents of your private CloudKit data.
  • There is no Pacer account to create and no Pacer-operated server storing your log.

3. Apple Health (HealthKit)

With your permission, Pacer reads active energy, walking/running distance, and workouts from HealthKit to calculate your calorie balance, and may write workouts and nutrition you log back to Health. HealthKit data is processed on your device. Pacer never sells HealthKit data, never uses it for advertising, and never shares it with third parties. You can review or revoke these permissions anytime in Settings → Health.

4. Sharing with your coach (Pacer Coach)

If you connect with a personal trainer through Pacer Coach, you do so by explicit invitation. When connected, the trainer you approved can see the nutrition and activity data relevant to coaching you — your protein and calorie totals, adherence and weight trend, training days, and the weekly review notes you choose to share — so they can program and adjust your plan. You control this: you can review who has access and disconnect a coach at any time, which stops further sharing. Trainers using Pacer Coach are responsible for handling client data respectfully and only for the purpose of coaching.

A trainer's own device calendar. Pacer Coach can optionally show a trainer their own existing appointments alongside their coaching sessions, so they can see what a day already holds before booking into it. This is off by default, requires the trainer's explicit permission, and is read-only: the app has no way to create, change or delete a calendar entry. Those events are read on the trainer's device, a few weeks either side of the dates they are viewing, are never stored by us, never leave the device, and are never shown to clients or used to change the times a client can request. Event names are hidden behind a further opt-in; otherwise each entry simply reads "Busy". A trainer can revoke access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.

5. The waitlist on this website

If you join our waitlist, we collect the email address you submit, along with basic technical metadata (the page that referred you and your browser's user-agent string). We use this solely to notify you about Pacer's launch and early access. The list is stored with our infrastructure provider (Supabase) and is never sold. You can ask us to remove your email at any time — see "Your rights" below.

6. Pacer Web (browser version)

If you use Pacer in a web browser, your account email, targets, and food logs are stored on our infrastructure provider Supabase, isolated to your account by row-level security. This data is never sold or used for advertising, and you can delete your account and its data at any time. (Apple-device users' data continues to live in their private iCloud and is not stored on our servers.)

7. Meeting links: Google Calendar and Zoom (coaches only)

A coach can optionally connect their own Google or Zoom account so that Pacer creates the meeting link when they schedule a session with a client. This is off by default, is started by the coach, and is never required to use Pacer.

What we access. For Google, Pacer requests a single scope — https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events — and uses it only to create and update the calendar event for a session the coach schedules in Pacer, including the Google Meet link on that event. Pacer does not request access to Gmail, Drive, contacts, or profile information, and does not read the coach's calendar for any other purpose. For Zoom, Pacer requests only meeting:write:meeting, which creates a meeting on the coach's own Zoom account.

What we store. The OAuth tokens the provider issues, and the meeting's identifier, join URL, and start time for sessions created through Pacer. Tokens are stored in our Supabase-hosted Postgres database, encrypted at rest and readable only by Pacer's server — they are never sent to a browser. Meeting content, recordings, transcripts, and attendee lists are never accessed or stored.

What we never do with Google user data. We do not sell it, do not use it for advertising, do not use it to train generalised artificial intelligence or machine learning models, and do not transfer it to third parties except as needed to provide this feature or where required by law.

Limited Use. Pacer's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Disconnecting. A coach can disconnect at any time in Pacer under Settings → Meeting links, which deletes the stored tokens. Google access can also be revoked at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and Zoom access in the Zoom App Marketplace; when Zoom notifies us that the app was removed, we delete the stored tokens. Meetings that were already created keep working, because they live on the coach's own Google or Zoom account.

8. What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent your personal data.
  • We do not embed third-party advertising SDKs or cross-site tracking in the app.
  • We do not use your health data for any purpose other than providing the app's features to you.

9. Data retention

Your in-app data persists in your iCloud account until you delete it (in the app, or by removing the app's iCloud data). Waitlist emails are retained until launch or until you ask us to delete them, whichever comes first.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you (such as your waitlist email). To make a request, email us at hello@pacerfitness.com and we'll respond promptly.

11. Children

Pacer is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Pacer evolves. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, give notice through the app or website.
